We all have to accept the fact that the human genome is more the same than different and we all share a basic genetic code. “A system has order, flowing from point to point. If something dams that flow, order collapses. The untrained eye might miss that collapse until it was too late. That’s why the highest function of ecology is the understanding of consequences.” Frank Herbert Dune Chronicles

The Hunters Point Community Biomonitoring Program has established cause and effect relationships between environmental toxins and expressions of disease. Science is defined as the observation, identification, description, investigation and theoretical explanation of natural…and unnatural phenomenon! The flow of scientific theory leads ultimately to scientific law:

Food Desert on the Hunters Point Hilltop located in the heavily industrialized southeast sector of San Francisco adjacent to a system of federal Superfund sites at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. There are no grocery stores on the Hunters Point Hilltop.

The USDA defines a food desert as a region without access to nutritious, affordable, quality whole food. Food deserts are areas with a 20% or greater poverty rate and where a third of residents live more than a mile from a supermarket, farmers market or local grocery store. In The Grocery Gap, Food Trust researchers found African Americans 400% more likely to live in a community that lacks a full service supermarket.
