In follow up, I received a letter dated July 6, 2018 from ATSDR’s Division of Community Health Investigations documenting initiation of a public health review of the Hunters Point Shipyard Tetra Tech “fraudulent radiation soil sampling conducted by remedial contract employees” to determine extent of community exposure to hazardous substances. ATSDR evaluated whether the exposure is harmful, potentially harmful or “whether the exposure should be stopped or reduced. Additionally, requests have been sent to the California State Biomonitoring Program requesting they initiate a biomonitoring investigation of residents living within a one mile radius of the federal Superfund site at the shipyard. Governor Edmund G. Brown has also been contacted to address the need for enhanced public health surveillance for a scandal that has spread to involve three California counties!
